Miracle

Jason and Anjali

What fun it has been to spend time with Jason and Anjali over the past few years as their courtship has blossomed into engagement, and soon marriage!  I've never seen Jason happier.  We felt so honored to meet Anjali's parents.  They are such kind people, which is no surprise, knowing Anjali. We love you guys!

Mom comes to town

Mom came out for a visit last month.  Though the new house was a disaster and my pregnant body limited our outings, we had a great time.  Mom is a great organizer and sweetly helped organize my bathroom and closet (thankyou!).  She also treated me to some much needed maternity clothes and took the whole family out to eat on several occasions.  The children love having her around because she is genuinely interested in their lives.  On top of that, we always benefit from her homemade cookies!  Thankyou for the visit mom!

Seems like we always provide mom with some drama during her visits.  This time, David came home from school with a huge slash in his head.  To make a long story short, we found ourselves in the ER for three hours to get these pretty staples in his head.  Mom insisted on coming along, and I was grateful for her company during the long hospital wait. This is already David's second time having his head stapled together!  Will it be the last?....

Piano

Another year of piano recitals... most notably, Ruth's very first!  Mid year, we decided to try a few different teachers.  All three kids has great experiences with them.

Goals

James is all about making goals these days.  Apparently, perfect attendance was one of his goals this past year.  Good job James!

My Little Companion

Can't say enough how much I have enjoyed having Emmy as my little companion over the past few months.  She is gradually transitioning from her demanding toddler ways into a delightful little girl.  When Emmy is not following me around, she is camped on the couch with a pile of books.  We are beginning to figure out how letters make sounds, and it is fun to watch her intellect grow.  Can't help but wonder how things will change next year with a little bundle to share our time with.  I think she'll be a good big sister.  Emmy loves pink, but I think red is her color (it's not often that she'll swap a pink bow for a red one).

New discoveries

Seems like every year with kids unfolds more discoveries about personality.  James was quite the class act in his life cycle play.  When some kids teased him about having a "girlish" costume, he decided to be the deadliest plant he could think of: a venus fly trap.  Wow, does this boy love to act.  I don't think I've ever been so entertained in a school play!

David's new hobby this year was brass and shiny.  He has quite enjoyed the trombone and plans to continue band in middle school.  He and his cousin, Xander, love to play music together on Sundays.  Imagine a trombone and piano duet to church songs... yes, it works!  :)

Ruth is my little school enthusiast.  So far this summer, she has diligently done left over school work every day.  Our garage is also set up for "school" this summer.  I can always count Ruth to blow me a kiss during her school performances.
