Happy Summertime

James and Ruth are dressed up as Captain Moroni with the flag of liberty

David and James enjoying their first watermelon slice of the summer.  David requested a summer buzz, but James declined.

Here I am, with 4 more weeks to go.  I am down to only two pairs of pants that fit.  I have holes and runs in almost all my compression socks.  It is just too close to go out and buy anything.  Any guesses on what this baby's size might be?

From the Mouth of Babes

David:

"Mom, Dad's right, you are the most GORGEOUS person in the whole world!"

"Well, someday you are going to find someone that you think is even more gorgeous than me"

"Well, then there will be TWO GORGEOUS people, but you'll still always be gorgeous to me!"

Considering that yesterday was the "worst day ever" I think we are off to a good start today!

James:

walks into the kitchen where I am making chard pasta:
"It smells like poop in here!  What are you making for dinner?"

Ruth:

After eating two brownies, requests an otter pop.  When I tell her NO, she crumples up on the floor and declares, "NOT FAIR!  NOT FAIR!"

Sea World

Last post today..

Over Memorial Day weekend, we took the kids to sea world.  The kids were delighted to spot a sloth right as we walked into the park.  This has been the animal of intrigue in our home lately, so I was equally impressed at our luck.

Sea World is really show after show after show... We came home burnt to a crisp, probably from sitting around in the sun on these bleachers.

Joseph and David went for a roller coaster ride and came off completely soaked.  At that point, Joseph was ready to go home, but David was hooked and ready for more!

This is a really embarrassing, but Joseph talked me into riding a cart.  Truthfully, this pregnancy has completely hammered the veins in my legs and pelvis, so standing and walking around all day would have killed me.  By the end of the day I was REALLY grateful to be on wheels.  Funny experience: I was passing an older lady, also in a cart- she turned to me and said, "wanna race?!!".

these two...

I really wish I had more pictures of David, but these two are my little buddies during the day.  Ruth will be really sad when James goes off to Transitional Kindergarten next year.

Flowers in Bloom

Once a year, our roses explode.  I just love it so much, I had to share...

The children decided to plant some sunflower seeds, independent of my help.  It is always useful to have a 7 year old to show the little ones the way to do things.  Surprisingly, we already have a few seedlings.

Beach Babies

We snuck in a visit to the beach before the crowds hit.  (Unfortunately, David was in school).  What could be better than waves and sand?

When sharing a bed with a pregnant woman...

Mother's Day Luncheon

James' little preschool has a tradition of hosting a mother's day luncheon.  The children line up and sing to their mothers, then present them with gifts.  James' gift was a little frame that included the following:

My mom is 20 years old.
My mom likes to make dinner.
My mom is the prettiest when she wears her dresses.
My mom always says "don't hit".
My mom doesn't do anything funny.
My mom always forgets to do everything
My mom likes it when I clean up on Saturday.
I love my mom because... she hugs and kisses me!

I love this little boy.  I wish that I could bottle 4 year old James up and keep him forever.
