You know your old when..
You know you're getting old when your 3 year old beats you at the "Memory" card game. Yup that's right, he beat me fair and square without any help... by a lot. Am I losing my mind?!!!

update
We have quite the morning ritual these days. At about 6:30 am James wakes up. Joseph brings him into bed with us so that we try to catch a little more sleep (it never works). At about 7:00, David comes in and says, "Make room for me!" With two active boys and 2 sleepy parents, it makes for a very crowded bed. Joseph and I joke that if we have another kid, we'll either have to squeeze in like sardines, or the last one up will have to snooze on the floor.
David has been quite into his "light saber" lately. James has definitely taken notice of this. The other day while David was in preschool, he got ahold of the light saber and wouldn't let go of it for the next half hour. Joseph finally came home the other day with a green one for James. It has been a huge hit. This morning David brought them into bed with us. So, in addition to two active kids and two sleepy parents, we had two light sabers, which made for a VERY crowded bed.

Memorial Day Adventure
Last weekend we took a trip up to Cortez, CO to visit Joseph's sister. Along the way we stopped at the Grand Canyon.
This was David's favorite part..
When we first arrived, a huge fog covered everything. After a few hours, the fog opened up and revealed a breathtaking landscape.
After we arrived in Cortez, we took a trip to Mesa Verde to see some ancient Puebloan ruins, set deep inside the Canyon cliffs. Here's David and his cousin... we spent most of our time trying to keep David from climbing over the edge of the cliff.
On the way home, we visited Canyon de Chelly on the Navajo Reservation. it turned out to be quite an experience. As soon as we got there, it began to drizzle. Since we only had a couple of hours to stop, we decided to throw on our Ponchos and hike in the rain.
Things were going pretty well. Even James seemed to like the rain.
The cliffs seemed pretty dry.. no problem
The bottom of the canyon was lovely. Here are some more ruins.
We took our time at the bottom of the canyon until suddenly, lightning, thunder, downpour, and flash flood. Waterfalls began pouring from all sides of the canyon.
Our nice dry path instantly looked like this:
We finally made it out, though soaked to the bone. I would never suggest hiking a canyon in a flash flood, but it was an amazing experience. I am in awe of God's creations; they are truly more spectacular than anything man can do.

I never thought this day would come...
It all started when we went to the Lego store and David saw a huge statue of Darth Vader. We told him that Darth Vader is the bad guy. He immediately asked, "Who is the good guy?". The entire day has been devoted to building spaceships for Luke with his Duplos. I finally found a picture of Luke. David dug around in his toys and came up with this outfit. Pretty good, huh?

Lizard adventure
Here's one more reason to have a dog...
Today we had the door open and a lizard found it's way inside the house. We searched everywhere for it. Finally, Pilot sat next to our living room curtain and wouldn't move. Joseph checked the curtain a few times, but didn't see it. Pilot still sat there, so he checked it again, and there it was!
I am proud of Pilot. I'm sure it would have been a nice reward for him if we had let him have the lizard, but we let it go. He is still sniffing the curtain to see if the Lizard is still there.
Joseph is taking David to Father's and sons next weekend. I am nervous about being by myself, but I think that our super duper dog will keep an eye (or nose) on things!

More from James..
Yes, more peek-a-boo games. I can't get enough of this little face. I love how easily he smiles. He is also a snuggle bug. And, as a true Californian, he LOVES avocados! (Joseph had to make sure that I liked avocados before he married me. It took me a while, but now I can't imagine life without em'!)
Preschool Fun
David's preschool did a little mothers day luncheon and presentation. It was so cute. The best part is that he has the lyrics to one of the songs stuck in his head, so he's been going around singing, "You are the best mother in the world!" It feels nice to have a little pay back today!
If you can't read it, David's little hat said, "I love my mom because... She reads me stories, She smells the white flowers, I know her name (that's good!), she cleans up".
This is Tara, David's little carpool buddy.
Here's me with my boys. Life would sure be boring without them!
